Essen-Dellwig · Ruhr
We produce events in six former colliery and coke-works buildings. Not as a backdrop — as buildings that still say what they were for.
What we do
Most people who call us have already found a photograph of a hall and been told by three suppliers that it cannot be done. It usually can. What it needs is somebody who holds the building, knows what the structure will take, and can walk the plan through the city's building control and fire service before you commit a budget to it.
That is the whole company. We hold six buildings in and around Essen-Dellwig, we employ our own site managers, and we work with one structural engineer and one safety office on every production. We do not run a catering arm and we do not sell you technology you do not need.

Venues
Every site here sat over the same coal. They were built in different decades for different jobs, and each one still behaves like the machine it was.

02 / 6Coke-oven battery · light walk
118 ovens, 214 metres of oven front, and a 900-metre route through them. Our light walk is a linear format: guests move, the building does not.
03 / 6Headframe deck, 48 m
A cocktail deck under the sheave wheels, 48 metres up, with the whole northern Ruhr laid out below. Small, weather-dependent, and the best thing we own.
04 / 6Pithead baths
Nineteen hundred chain hooks still hang from their ceiling pulleys. It is the most photographed ceiling in our portfolio and the one room we ask people to enter quietly.
05 / 6Compressor hall
Our warmest, most forgiving room: brick, arched windows, four compressors in a row. It is the one we recommend when a production has to work the first time.
06 / 6Coal blending bunker
Raw post-war concrete, 26 metres to the conveyor bridges, and an echo you can hear your own footsteps travel through. Not an easy room — the right one for the right idea.
Since 2009
We do not count enquiries, followers or awards. These four tell us whether the buildings are being used and whether people got home safely.

A hall does not become a venue because it looks good. Capacity, escape routes, fire load, structural limits and stewarding all have to be agreed with the authorities in Essen, and that process decides what your evening can be. We start there, in writing, on every enquiry.

Utilities, broadcasters, works councils, ensembles and district culture offices. Roughly half our work is for organisations from the region, which is the way we would like to keep it.
Getting here
S-Bahn to Essen-Dellwig, then eleven minutes on foot along the Emscher path. By car, A42 exit Essen-Nord, then five minutes; 180 spaces on the old pit yard, free, unlit — we light the walking route on event days.
The compressor hall is step-free from the yard. The pithead baths and the winding-engine hall are step-free with one assisted threshold. The rooftop deck and the blending bunker are not step-free; the light walk has a shortened step-free route. Tell us what you need and we will tell you what is honestly possible.
